How much RAM does a game server need?
Underprovisioning a game server does not show up as a crash. It shows up as a tick-rate drop when the tenth player joins, a world-save stutter every five minutes, and a community that quietly stops logging in. Overprovisioning just costs money.
This is the sizing table we actually use, with the plan each title lands on and what the console bills for it.
Recommended memory by title
| Game | Genre | Players | Recommended RAM | Plan | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | Sandbox | 1–50 players | 4 GB | Gaming 2 vCPU (2 vCPU) | ₹5,039.9/mo |
| Counter-Strike 2 | Shooter | 10–32 players | 8 GB | Gaming 4 vCPU (4 vCPU) | ₹10,314.8/mo |
| Rust | Survival | 50–300 players | 12 GB | Gaming 8 vCPU (8 vCPU) | ₹20,725.9/mo |
| Valheim | Survival | 1–10 players | 8 GB | Gaming 4 vCPU (4 vCPU) | ₹10,314.8/mo |
| Palworld | Survival | 4–32 players | 16 GB | Gaming 8 vCPU (8 vCPU) | ₹20,725.9/mo |
| ARK: Survival Ascended | Survival | 20–70 players | 32 GB | Custom VM | Talk to sales |
| Factorio | Simulation | 1–16 players | 4 GB | Gaming 2 vCPU (2 vCPU) | ₹5,039.9/mo |
| Satisfactory | Simulation | 1–8 players | 16 GB | Gaming 8 vCPU (8 vCPU) | ₹20,725.9/mo |
Read the RAM column as a floor for a vanilla server with the stated player count, not a target. Mods, plugins and persistent worlds all add to it.
What the plans actually include
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | Storage | Transfer | Servers | Monthly | Hourly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gaming 2 vCPU | 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB NVMe | 2 TB | 4 | ₹5,039.9/mo | ₹6.63/hr |
| Gaming 4 vCPU | 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB NVMe | 2 TB | 4 | ₹10,314.8/mo | ₹12.76/hr |
| Gaming 8 vCPU | 8 | 16 GB | 160 GB NVMe | 2 TB | 4 | ₹20,725.9/mo | ₹24.83/hr |
Three things worth noting, because they are the ones that change a decision:
- There is no gaming surcharge. A game server is billed at the same VM and disk rate as any other workload of that size. The plans above are VM plans with Wings on top.
- DDoS protection is included on every plan, not an add-on. This matters more for game servers than for most workloads: a public UDP port is an easy target, and an attack that takes the server down takes the community with it.
- The hourly rate is real. A server you only run at weekends costs the hourly rate for the hours it is up, which for Gaming 2 vCPU is ₹6.63/hr.
When a game needs a VM instead of a gaming plan
Our largest gaming plan is Gaming 8 vCPU at 16 GB of RAM. ARK: Survival Ascended sits above that — it needs a general-purpose VM sized to the world instead, at the same catalogue rates.
That is a deliberate boundary rather than a gap. Above 16 GB the limiting factor stops being the game and starts being the world: tick budget, save size and how many entities you let accumulate. Those are decisions to make with someone, not from a dropdown.
Latency, and why the region matters more than the spec
A server in Noida (ap-south-3) gives sub-10ms latency across Northern India. No amount of RAM compensates for a server in Singapore or Frankfurt when your players are in Delhi — ping is a property of distance, and it is the single number players notice first.
Where to start
Pick the row for your title, take the recommended plan, and add a tier if you run mods or expect the community to grow. Every game above has its own page with its plan, its FAQ and a one-click deploy: Minecraft · Counter-Strike 2 · Rust · Valheim.
